Description

UNA CMS versions 9.0.0-RC1 - 14.0.0-RC4 contain a PHP object injection vulnerability in BxBaseMenuSetAclLevel.php where the profile_id POST parameter is passed to PHP unserialize() without proper handling, allowing remote, unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary PHP objects and potentially write and execute arbitrary PHP code.

Analysis

UNA CMS versions 9.0.0-RC1 - 14.0.0-RC4 contain a PHP object injection vulnerability in BxBaseMenuSetAclLevel.php where the profile_id POST parameter is passed to PHP unserialize() without proper handling, allowing remote, unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary PHP objects and potentially write and execute arbitrary PHP code.

Technical Context

Insecure deserialization occurs when untrusted data is used to reconstruct objects, allowing attackers to manipulate serialized data to execute arbitrary code. This vulnerability is classified as Deserialization of Untrusted Data (CWE-502).

Affected Products

Affected: BxBaseMenuSetAclLevel

Remediation

Avoid deserializing untrusted data. Use safe serialization formats (JSON instead of native serialization). Implement integrity checks on serialized data.
