2 techniques across 2 tactics: Initial Access, Execution The technique list with ATT&CK links and the kill-chain view is part of the Basic plan and up. |
| Exploitation Conditions | Exploitation requires an attacker to deliver a crafted URL to the task.php endpoint containing a malicious payload in the m parameter, which is reflected by the urltestAction function in cliAction.php of RockOA 2.7.0. The key limiting factor is required user interaction (CVSS UI:R): a victim must open the attacker-supplied link in their browser for the injected script to execute - this is not a server-side compromise and does not run automatically. No attacker authentication is needed (PR:N), and impact is confined to the client-side context of the user who clicks (session data, DOM, actions as that user); exploitation is constrained to deployments running the affected RockOA 2.7.0 version. |
| Impact | This is a reflected cross-site scripting flaw (CWE-79) with a CVSS 3.1 base score of 6.1 (vector AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N). The vector indicates a network-reachable, low-complexity issue requiring no attacker privileges but requiring user interaction (UI:R), with a changed scope and limited confidentiality/integrity impact and no availability impact - a signal profile fully consistent with a reflected XSS requiring a victim to click a crafted link. No EPSS score was supplied in the input, and the vulnerability is NOT listed in CISA KEV, so there is no evidence of active exploitation; however, the NVD reference points to a GitHub issue flagged as an exploit, so publicly available exploit code exists. The signals are internally consistent (medium-severity reflected XSS, exploit code public, no confirmed in-the-wild use), so this reads as a genuine but moderate-priority issue rather than a critical one: real because exploit details are public and the attack is remote/low-complexity, but bounded because it needs user interaction, yields only limited client-side impact (session/DOM-level), and affects a niche product. Missing data: no EPSS probability and no vendor advisory or patch were provided, so exploitation likelihood and fix availability cannot be independently confirmed from the input. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An attacker crafts a malicious URL targeting the task.php endpoint with a payload in the vulnerable m parameter (urltestAction in cliAction.php) and lures an authenticated RockOA user into clicking it (e.g., via phishing). When the victim's browser renders the reflected response, the injected script executes in the RockOA origin, allowing session/cookie theft or actions in the user's context. Publicly available exploit/PoC details are referenced in the vendor's GitHub issue tracker. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Oct 18, 2026
Reflected cross-site scripting in Xinhu Rainrock RockOA 2.7.0 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary script in a victim's browser by luring them to a crafted task.php URL carrying a malicious payload in the m parameter, which the urltestAction function in cliAction.php reflects without adequate sanitization. No attacker authentication is required (PR:N), but exploitation depends on victim interaction (UI:R) - the victim must click the attacker-supplied link - and the impact is confined to the client-side context of that user's session rather than the server itself. Publicly available exploit code exists via the linked GitHub issue, and the CVSS 3.1 base score is 6.1 (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N); no confirmed active exploitation (CISA KEV) was identified at time of analysis.
RemediationAI
No vendor-released patch or fixed version is identified in the available data for RockOA 2.7.0, so the primary action is to check the upstream project (https://github.com/rainrocka/xinhu/issues/10) and the vendor for an updated release and upgrade as soon as one ships; given publicly available exploit code exists, treat prioritization as elevated. Until a fix is available, apply specific compensating controls: server-side output-encode or reject the m parameter before it is rendered by urltestAction, or block requests to task.php containing script-bearing characters in m at the reverse proxy/WAF (trade-off: legitimate URL-testing functionality may break, and encoding rules must be tuned to avoid false positives); restrict network access to the RockOA web interface to trusted internal networks or VPN so crafted links cannot be delivered from outside (trade-off: reduces remote/mobile usability); and deploy a Content-Security-Policy with restrictive script-src and set session cookies HttpOnly and SameSite=Lax/Strict to blunt script execution and token theft (trade-off: CSP may break inline scripts in the existing application and requires testing). Users should be trained not to follow unsolicited task.php links, since exploitation requires the victim to click.

Technical ContextAI · show details
RockOA (Xinhu Rainrock RockOA) is a PHP-based enterprise office automation system; version 2.7.0 ships a CLI/action dispatch layer in cliAction.php whose urltestAction function takes the user-supplied m parameter from the task.php endpoint and emits it into the HTTP response without proper output encoding. This is classic CWE-79 reflected cross-site scripting: untrusted input reaches an HTML/JS sink in the same request cycle, so the injected markup or script executes in the origin of the RockOA application. Because the vulnerable sink is client-side, the attacker does not obtain server code execution; instead they gain script execution in the victim's authenticated RockOA session, enabling theft of session tokens or data visible to that user, and - per the CVSS scope change (S:C) - potential manipulation of the browser context beyond the vulnerable component. Exploitation is constrained to deployments running the affected 2.7.0 release (CPE cpe:2.3:a:rockoa:rockoa:2.7.0).
