| Exploitation Conditions | Exploitation requires authenticated access to the ClipBucket V5 Admin Area - the description explicitly states 'requires access privileges to the Admin Area', and the CVSS PR:H confirms high-privilege authentication. The specific vulnerable endpoint is /admin_area/login_as_user.php, where the 'uid' GET parameter is passed unsanitized into get_user_details(), which concatenates it directly into a SQL WHERE clause. Affected versions are 5.5.2 revision #140 and earlier (fixed in revision #142). The primary limiting factor is the admin-privilege requirement, which excludes unauthenticated or low-privilege attackers; no user interaction is needed and the attack is network-reachable once admin access is held. |
| Impact | This is a genuine but access-gated vulnerability. The CVSS vector (AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N) and the description agree cleanly - network-reachable, low complexity, no user interaction, but requiring high privileges (admin-area access), yielding full C:H/I:H/A:H impact for a 7.2 (High). The signals are consistent and not conflicting. EPSS is low at 0.52% (42nd percentile), and the CVE is NOT on CISA KEV, so there is no evidence of active exploitation. Publicly available exploit code exists (vendor GHSA advisory), which raises practical risk, but POC availability is not the same as in-the-wild exploitation. The key limiting factor is PR:H: an attacker must already hold Admin Area credentials, which sharply narrows the realistic threat to insiders, compromised admin accounts, or post-authentication privilege abuse rather than opportunistic internet-wide attacks. Net: a real but lower-priority issue - patch promptly, but it does not represent an unauthenticated mass-exploitation threat. The CVSS-7.2 high score is driven by impact, not by ease of unauthenticated access. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An attacker who already has Admin Area access (or has compromised an admin session) sends a crafted request to /admin_area/login_as_user.php with a malicious 'uid' parameter, which is passed unsanitized into a SQL WHERE clause in get_user_details(). Using blind SQL injection techniques, they infer and extract database contents such as user credentials and session data. Publicly available exploit code exists in the vendor's GHSA-3wpr-jprj-52fc advisory, lowering the skill barrier. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Oct 09, 2026
Blind SQL injection in ClipBucket V5 (5.5.2 revision #140 and earlier) lets an attacker who already holds Admin Area credentials inject arbitrary SQL through the 'uid' GET parameter of /admin_area/login_as_user.php, allowing database contents to be inferred and potentially manipulated. Exploitation is gated behind high-privilege authentication (CVSS 7.2, vector PR:H/AC:L/AV:N, no user interaction), which sharply limits the exposed population to trusted administrators or anyone who has compromised an admin account. Publicly available exploit code exists and the vendor has shipped a fix in revision #142, but there is no confirmed active exploitation (not in CISA KEV) and EPSS is low at roughly 0.52% (42nd percentile).
RemediationAI
Upgrade to the vendor-fixed build by applying commit b3bf27e367f318c2afe9bd11368be9d00e272148 (ClipBucket V5 changelog revision #142, superseding the affected revision #140), which casts the uid parameter to an integer and routes $id through mysql_clean() inside get_user_details(); this is the only complete fix and should be the first action. If the code cannot be updated immediately, prevent anyone from reaching the vulnerable script: block or return 403 for /admin_area/login_as_user.php at the reverse proxy or web server, accepting that the admin 'login as user' convenience function becomes unavailable. As a broader compensating control, restrict the entire /admin_area/ path to a management VPN or IP allowlist and enforce strong credentials plus multi-factor authentication on all admin accounts, since exploitation requires admin privileges in the first place; the trade-off is that legitimate remote administration is disrupted until access paths are re-established. Because the injection is blind, signature-based WAF rules keyed on quotes, UNION or SQL keywords in uid are easily obfuscated and should not be treated as a substitute for patching. Finally, audit and rotate administrator credentials where compromise is suspected, and review database and web server logs for abnormal requests to login_as_user.php with non-numeric uid values. Technical ContextAI · show details
ClipBucket V5 is an open-source PHP video hosting platform; the flaw is a classic CWE-89 improper neutralization of special elements in an SQL command. The admin-only script /admin_area/login_as_user.php read the request parameter uid directly as $_GET['uid'] and passed it into the application's get_user_details() helper in includes/classes/user.class.php, which built a query fragment as "WHERE users.$select_field = '$id'" - string concatenation with no escaping or placeholder binding. Because the injected value flows into a WHERE comparison whose result is not returned verbatim to the caller, exploitation is blind: an attacker must use boolean-based or time-based inference to extract data. The vendor fix raises the bar in two ways: uid is cast to (int) before use, and get_user_details() now sanitizes $id via mysql_clean() and quotes the dynamically selected column name, closing the injection point. The CPE cpe:2.3:a:oxygenz:clipbucket:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:* encodes no version bounds, so it maps the whole ClipBucket product line to this advisory; the authoritative version boundary is the maintainer's own changelog, which records the remediation as revision #142 (from #140). The CVSS vector confirms the posture: network reachable and trivially simple to trigger once inside, but requiring high privileges (PR:H), with high confidentiality, integrity and availability impact on the underlying database if the injection is exercised fully.

DescriptionNVD
ClipBucket V5 provides open source video hosting with PHP. In version5.5.2 - #140 and earlier, a Blind SQL injection vulnerability exists in the Admin Area’s “/admin_area/login_as_user.php” file. Exploiting this vulnerability requires access privileges to the Admin Area.
Executive ViewAI
ClipBucket V5 video platforms running 5.5.2 revision #140 or earlier contain a blind SQL injection that can only be reached by someone already holding Admin Area credentials, so the practical risk is a compromised or malicious privileged account turning into direct database read and write access. Publicly available exploit code exists, though there is no confirmed actively exploited (CISA KEV) activity and EPSS sits at roughly 0.5 percent. Leadership should care because the vulnerability converts a single admin credential compromise into potential exposure or alteration of the platform's entire database, and the vendor has already released a fix at revision #142.
