| Exploitation Conditions | Exploitation requires an authenticated WeGIA session (PR:L) because the vulnerable endpoint /html/atendido/cadastro_atendido_parentesco_pessoa_nova.php sits within the application's managed area, and it requires the victim to click an attacker-crafted link carrying a payload in the idatendido GET parameter (UI:R). The specific trigger is the unsanitized reflection of $_GET['idatendido'] into a hidden input's value attribute. Limiting factors: both a valid low-privilege account and victim interaction are needed, impact is confined to the browser (C:L/I:L, no availability impact), and any instance updated to WeGIA 3.5.1 or later is not vulnerable. |
| Impact | This is a genuinely moderate-but-not-urgent issue. The CVSS 3.1 vector (AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N, 5.4 Medium) describes a reflected XSS requiring both authentication (PR:L) and victim interaction (UI:R) to click a crafted link, with only limited confidentiality and integrity impact (C:L/I:L) achieved through a changed scope (S:C, script running in the victim's browser context). The signals are internally consistent and align with the commit evidence: the sink is an unescaped |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An attacker with a low-privileged WeGIA account crafts a URL to /html/atendido/cadastro_atendido_parentesco_pessoa_nova.php with a malicious script payload in the idatendido parameter and lures an authenticated victim into clicking it. The reflected payload executes in the victim's browser session, enabling session/credential theft or actions in the victim's context. A POC is publicly documented in the GitHub Security Advisory, and low attack complexity makes reliable exploitation straightforward once a victim clicks. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Oct 01, 2026
Reflected cross-site scripting in WeGIA versions prior to 3.5.1 lets an authenticated, low-privilege attacker inject script into the idatendido GET parameter of the /html/atendido/cadastro_atendido_parentesco_pessoa_nova.php endpoint, which is echoed unsanitized into a hidden input field and executes in the victim's browser when a crafted link is clicked. Exploitation requires a valid WeGIA session (PR:L) plus victim interaction (UI:R), and impact is limited to the browser context with low confidentiality and integrity effects and no availability impact. The flaw is fixed in WeGIA 3.5.1, publicly available exploit code exists, and EPSS is low at 0.24% (13th percentile) with no indication of confirmed active exploitation.
RemediationAI
Upgrade WeGIA to version 3.5.1 or later, which is the vendor-released fix and applies htmlspecialchars() to the idatendido parameter (commit e39390f2c0172e8a127b9437e15e71ac4a0e77cf); advisory details are at https://github.com/LabRedesCefetRJ/WeGIA/security/advisories/GHSA-fj32-779r-28qv and issue https://github.com/LabRedesCefetRJ/WeGIA/issues/1181. If immediate upgrade is not possible, apply compensating controls: restrict access to the affected atendido module and its cadastro_atendido_parentesco_pessoa_nova.php endpoint to trusted networks or IP ranges via web server ACLs (trade-off: legitimate staff lose remote access to that workflow); deploy a WAF or reverse-proxy rule that rejects requests whose idatendido parameter contains quote, angle bracket, or script-like sequences (trade-off: false positives on unusual but valid identifiers, and the rule is bypassable if encoding is not normalized); enforce a strict Content-Security-Policy without unsafe-inline on the application so injected inline script cannot execute (trade-off: may break existing inline JavaScript in WeGIA's legacy pages and requires testing); and remind authenticated users not to follow unsolicited links while logged in, since exploitation depends on victim interaction. Reviewing logs for requests carrying script payloads in idatendido can help detect prior attempts.

Technical ContextAI · show details
The root cause is CWE-79 (Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation), specifically a reflected XSS in a PHP page of the WeGIA application, an open-source Web Manager for Institutions aimed at Portuguese-language users. The affected code at html/atendido/cadastro_atendido_parentesco_pessoa_nova.php directly interpolated the value of $_GET['idatendido'] into the value attribute of a hidden <input> element without output encoding, so a URL such as one supplying a quote-breaking payload would terminate the attribute and inject arbitrary markup or script into the rendered page. The upstream fix commit e39390f2c0172e8a127b9437e15e71ac4a0e77cf wraps that value in htmlspecialchars(), applying PHP's HTML entity encoding so the payload is rendered as inert text. The vulnerable component is a managed-area PHP endpoint in the atendido (assisted person) module handling relationship registration, which is why the CVSS vector requires low privileges (PR:L) in addition to user interaction (UI:R); the scope change (S:C) and low C/I with no availability impact reflect that the script runs in the victim's browser session rather than compromising the server. The CPE cpe:2.3:a:wegia:wegia:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:* confirms all released WeGIA builds before 3.5.1 are in scope.
