Description

The Restrict File Access plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Directory Traversal in all versions up to, and including, 1.1.2 via the output() function. Analysis

The Restrict File Access plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Directory Traversal in all versions up to, and including, 1.1.2 via the output() function. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access and above, to read the contents of arbitrary files on the server, which can contain sensitive information.

Technical Context

Path traversal allows an attacker to access files outside the intended directory by manipulating file paths with sequences like '../'.

Remediation

Validate and sanitize file path inputs. Use a whitelist of allowed files or directories. Implement chroot jails or containerization.
