CVE-2025-57353
MEDIUMCVSS Vector
CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N
Lifecycle Timeline
4Description
The Runtime components of messageformat package for Node.js before 3.0.2 contain a prototype pollution vulnerability. Due to insufficient validation of nested message keys during the processing of message data, an attacker can manipulate the prototype chain of JavaScript objects by providing specially crafted input. This can result in the injection of arbitrary properties into the Object.prototype, potentially leading to denial of service conditions or unexpected application behavior. The vulnerability allows attackers to alter the prototype of base objects, impacting all subsequent object instances throughout the application's lifecycle.
Analysis
The Runtime components of messageformat package for Node.js before 3.0.2 contain a prototype pollution vulnerability. Rated medium severity (CVSS 5.3), this vulnerability is remotely exploitable, no authentication required, low attack complexity. Public exploit code available and no vendor patch available.
Technical Context
This vulnerability is classified as Improperly Controlled Modification of Object Prototype Attributes (Prototype Pollution) (CWE-1321), which allows attackers to modify object prototypes to inject properties affecting application logic. The Runtime components of messageformat package for Node.js before 3.0.2 contain a prototype pollution vulnerability. Affected Products
See vendor advisory for affected versions.
Remediation
No vendor patch is available at time of analysis. Monitor vendor advisories for updates. Freeze prototypes, validate object keys, avoid recursive merging of untrusted data.
