2Description
There is a memory corruption vulnerability due to an out of bounds read in Bitmap::InternalDraw() when using the SymbolEditor in NI Circuit Design Suite. This vulnerability may result in information disclosure or arbitrary code execution. Successful exploitation requires an attacker to get a user to open a specially crafted .sym file. This vulnerability affects NI Circuit Design Suite 14.3.0 and prior versions.
Analysis
There is a memory corruption vulnerability due to an out of bounds read in Bitmap::InternalDraw() when using the SymbolEditor in NI Circuit Design Suite. Rated high severity (CVSS 8.5), this vulnerability is no authentication required, low attack complexity. No vendor patch available.
Technical Context
This vulnerability is classified as Out-of-bounds Read (CWE-125), which allows attackers to read data from memory outside the intended buffer boundaries. Affected products include: Ni Circuit Design Suite.
Affected Products
Ni Circuit Design Suite.
Remediation
No vendor patch is available at time of analysis. Monitor vendor advisories for updates. Validate array indices and buffer lengths. Use memory-safe languages. Enable AddressSanitizer during testing.
