CRITICAL 9.1

Description

Due to the improper configuration of XML parser, user-supplied XML is parsed without applying sufficient restrictions, enabling XML External Entity (XXE) resolution in multiple WSO2 Products. A successful XXE attack could allow a remote, unauthenticated attacker to: * Read sensitive files from the server’s filesystem. * Perform denial-of-service (DoS) attacks, which can render the affected service unavailable.

Analysis

Due to the improper configuration of XML parser, user-supplied XML is parsed without applying sufficient restrictions, enabling XML External Entity (XXE) resolution in multiple WSO2 Products. Rated critical severity (CVSS 9.1), this vulnerability is remotely exploitable, no authentication required, low attack complexity. No vendor patch available.

Technical Context

This vulnerability is classified as XML External Entity (XXE) (CWE-611), which allows attackers to read arbitrary files or perform SSRF through XML processing. Affected products include: Wso2 Api Manager.

Affected Products

Wso2 Api Manager.

Remediation

No vendor patch is available at time of analysis. Monitor vendor advisories for updates. Disable external entity processing in XML parsers, use JSON instead of XML where possible.
